Proud [adjective]: A feeling of deep pleasure or satisfaction as a result of one's own achievements.

How has it been this long again?! The last you heard of me was my frustrations in the R&D world and how many iterations we had been doing. Fast forward a few months and I am basking in a glow of pride. I have achieved something. Okay, it’s not quite what I set out to achieve yet (and we are still working away on that), but we have designed and produced a pair of shoes that I can wear.

We decided to pivot. The LR5 as you’ve come to know it (the super fancy technical one) is still under development and we are getting closer everyday however we now have a new product – the LRS1. The Lucy Rose Standard 1. I am proud of pivoting (Em a few years ago wouldn’t even entertain the idea), I am proud of the efforts everyone involved has put in from the design to the manufacture but I am most proud of the manufacturing provenance. These shoes have been 100% designed and made in the UK.

From the design team in Sheffield to the manufacture of one part in Bristol at the National Composites Centre and other part, the uppers manufactured in London, it’s been a real team effort and I am so proud to be able to say that. When you have an idea or a dream, it can stay for a long time in the ‘dream state’ and there is nothing tangible or physical to show. But holding these shoes in my hands, an idea I had has become reality and it wouldn’t have happened without me. Yes, I am still too wrapped up in the future, the finances, the how and who of the business operation but every now and again I think to myself ‘I did this’. In the words of Jeremy Clarkson “I did a thing!”. I can comfortably put a stake in the ground as July 2023 being the month the first ever pair of Lucy Rose shoes were made and no one can take that away from me. A feeling of pride washes over me if only for a brief period.

We believe in exclusivity and that’s why our designs are meticulously handcrafted with a high level of attention to detail. Our commitment to luxury ensures that we only use the finest materials available creating a unique end product which shall always remain an elegant masterpiece.

I am excited and actively looking to show off these pair of shoes to the right people (luxury shoe manufacturers and designers) however I wish for them to be kept under wraps to heighten anticipation and build an ‘exclusive’ brand image.
